MPG Director Jan Niessen will speak on behalf of the Index team at "East European Area Studies: Setting the Research Agenda" on 19-20 April 2007. The conference marks the inaugural event of University College London's Centre for East European Language Based Area Studies (CEELBAS), which is managed by Prof. George Kolankiewicz, member of the Index's Scientific Advisory Committee. It reaches out to a broader user community in order to link research on Eastern Europe to the advocacy and policymaking agenda.
Within a broader discussion on "migration and diasporic citizenship," Dr. Niessen will address how researchers and users can profit from the Index's new data in the under-analysed domain of migration and integration policies in the EU-8.
